The Le Macioche 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Cotarella (made by the Cotarella family with extensive winemaking experience in Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany) offers tart fruit and bright cherry aromas. There is some oak spice, but more prominent are the varietal aromas of crushed stone, pencil shaving, dried rose and grilled herb. The mouthfeel shows medium length with bright acidity. Give it a few more years to soften and integrate. Some 12,000 bottles were made.
The Cotarella family is working to expand and refurbish the Le Macioche winery, and they will soon be adding a tasting room for public visits. This is an adorable property with a roadside winery and terrific little farmhouse surrounded by ancient cypress trees.

OUR STORY
FOUNDERS AND BACKGROUND
Founders Marco Prete and Cristina Fragni have spent a lifetime in close contact with the top European winemakers and cellar masters, and have spent decades on their shared passion for learning, tasting, and even assisting in the production of fine wines.
After relocating to NYC in 2013, they found that many of their favorite vintages were not available in the US. Inspired by a lack of available inventory on the usual channels, they decided that it was essential to them personally and professionally to create a bespoke, world-class collection of fine wines available for US import.
The Wines of Kings collection of exquisite wines reflects the founders’ obsession with premium wines that are made authentically.
