It's been interesting to draw comparisons between the current 2017 Barolo releases and those 2015 Riservas hitting the market now. Both are born in warm vintages, and there are a few interesting parallels to be drawn. Francesco Rinaldi & Figli gives us a window onto both vintages. The 2015 Barolo Riserva Cannubi is a fleshed-out and concentrated expression with black and purple fruits (much like the 2017). Texture plays an important role in the power and momentum of the wine. This Riserva also reveals delicate touches of smoke, ash and licorice that develop with age. - Monica Larner
